Turnovers & Space

Points to watch -- After a turnover look for space and attack it.

First Turnover
Fly half runs at the space takes out 2 defenders by running at the space between them and passes to the players outside with speed. Winger shows speed and determination to score.

Second Turnover
Scrum half finds space down the side of the ruck, draws three defenders and puts the ball into space down field (he finds space in depth not laterally). First man to the ball knows if he picks it up he’ll be smothered so kicks it forward into space for the supporting player to score.

Note -- Does there need to be a lot of space to attack? How important is it that forwards can execute a simple scrum half pass?

Forwards and slower backs should be looking for speed outside -- don’t waste turnover ball by trundling it back into their cover!

From a defensive point of view -- what did the defender do wrong at the ruck in the the second clip that allowed the scrum half the space inside to break through?
