Where to Watch: in the USA on tv

UPDATED – March 2010

This is the first post in the “Where to Watch” series. As I live in the US I will start here with an outline of tv services. In a future post I will cover online options.

If you want to see every game in the 2010 Six Nations live on a tv in the US there is only one service – Premium Sports. In bars they charge $20 at the door to see most premium games . You can use Premium Sport’s venue finder to locate a bar near you.

Also big news for rugby fans in America as BBC America announced today that they will cover one game in each round of the 2010 Six Nations.

Starting with Wales playing England in Twickenham on February 6. Then covering Ireland over the next three rounds including their big clashes with France and England away and then Wales in Dublin. The final game will be the clash of France and England in the Stade de France.

Unbelievable that EBC America disclude Scotland from their scheduling entirely.

It seems that the only channel showing Scotland-France on Sunday Feb 07 is TV5 Americas – so if you don’t mind comments in France – you can always try the French spots.
Setanta is showing it on Monday evening otherwise.

Will the 6 nations be covered by fox soccer plus? Do you know if we can expect rugby coverage of similar caliber from the new Fox takeover? My initial reaction to the new channel is less rugby and no hurling or aussie football. Just when rugby is becoming more accessible to the world, i.e. Olympic sports and increasing media coverage, it seems to be smothered by the foxy conglomerate.

I have heard a strong rumor that Super 14 will come to FS+ but nothing about the Six Nations. Given the success of BBC America’s coverage this year I would hope that they will buy the rights.
